Alta Museum in the period 03.06. – 10.10.2021
NB! The Exhibition periode is prolonged!
This exhibition is the first in a series of three ehibitions which examined sculpture and three-dimensional art, where each exhibition has a different focus. The exhibition was shown for thr first time in the winter of 2019 here in Karasjok and is later shown in Varangerbotn and Hammerfest. The exhibition has been well received by the public, which we hope will also happen at Alta museum.
Wood is one of the traditional materials in Sápmi and has a special significance in sculpture and duodji. Iver Jåks has a special significance in this context, as a significant artist, but also as an inspirer for future generations of sami artists. This exhibition is the first in the series that examines how Sami artists work with 3 dimensional works, object, sculpture and installation, and where they use different materials. The exhibition series are based on loans from RiddoDuottarMuseat-Sami Art collection in Karasjok.
