The board of Sámi Dáiddaguovddáš SDG / Sami Center for Contemporary Art has appointed Line Kalak as the managing director of SDG.

Kalak is the very first Sámi leader of the institution since SDG was transformed into a foundation over ten years ago. Kalak comes from the position as Assistant Professor in law at Sámi allaskuvla / Sami University of Applied Sciences in Guovdageaidnu, where she has also served as prorector for education and research in duodji, among other scientific fields.

She is a lawyer, and also has education in anthropology, economics, management, and project management.

As the managing director, Kalak will closely collaborate with the Artistic Council of SDG, which consist of artists chosen from the members of Sámi Dáiddačehpiid Searvi / Sami Artists’ Association.

The board of SDG looks forward to working with Line Kalak for the benefit of our art center, for Sámi artists and their work, and for the public and experts in the field.
