EXHIBITION: HALO – NNBK 50 YEARS!
Northern Norwegian Visual Artists (NNBK) 50 YEARS
The Sami Center for Contemporary Art (SDG) is marking the 50th anniversary of the artists’ organization for the northern region. Members are both Norwegian and Sámi artists who reside in or are connected to the region. At SDG, the exhibition HALO is presented in 2 parts, where the first part is shown in November and December and the second part is shown in January, additionally, a video art program and a sound art program are shown in both parts.
TO BALANCE LIGHT & DARKNESS
NNBK writes the following about the anniversary:
In a strange and challenging time, new paths are opened to process what is happening and how we relate to the situation, each other and nature. We are filling the exhibition spaces and are now inviting the audience to complete the art. Give this sensing space and time, marvel at it. Make room for the emotions the sensation creates. ” – from the exhibition text by Per Bjarne Boym
NNBK has produced seven unique exhibitions in collaboration with central exhibition venues in northern Norway to mark NNBK’s 50th anniversary. We challenged our members to contribute new works that result in exhibitions based on sensory phenomena; Equinox, Tvelys, Hildring, Solhund, Undercurrents, Aura and Halo.
The exhibitions represent a fresh and focused insight into the diversity of artists and expressions in the northern art scene.
NNBK’s 50th anniversary is supported by: Nordland, Troms and Finnmark county municipalities, Bodø municipality and Bergesenstiftelsen.
